- Bob Boyd (1928 - 2009) attended Loyola University of Los Angeles between 1947 and 1950. As a student, he excelled in three sports: football, track and field, and boxing. In track, he established all-time school records in the 100 yard dash and 220 yard dash. He also won the NCAA Championship in the 100 yard dash in 1950. After completing his studies, Boyd enjoyed a distinguished career in the National Football League as a top receiver with the Los Angeles Rams between 1950 and 1957, highlighted by a NFL Championship in 1951 and his 1954 campaign when he caught 53 passes for 1,212 yards and 6 touchdowns. Boyd was elected to LMU�s Hall of Fame in 1986, as one of the most versatile athletes in school history.
