About the Collection
The Del Rey Players Collection features playbills from Loyola University’s student dramatic society founded in autumn of 1932. Throughout the following decades, the student run organization would stage plays in renowned Los Angeles performance venues including the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, and Carthay Circle Theatre. In 1971, the Players transformed a classroom into the Wine Cellar Theater, which became their home. The Del Rey Players continue to stage productions to this day, making them the second oldest continual student organizations on the Loyola Marymount campus. The playbills in this digital collection tell the story of a group that steadily expanded its numbers, repertoire, and audience over the years, and were selected for this reason.
