Sacred Heart Chapel
The Sacred Heart Chapel Stained Glass Windows
The Sacred Heart Chapel Stained Glass Windows Collection features twenty-nine unique stained glass windows found in Loyola Marymount University’s iconic chapel. Twenty-eight of the windows feature a religious figure and a seal representing one of the Jesuit Colleges or Universities in the United States. The one exception, the “Rose Window,” depicts an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to whom the chapel is dedicated.
The William H. Hannon Library would like to thank Fr. Roche, SJ and Sr. Anne Hennessy, CSJ for contributing essays that detail each saint’s historical background as well as the iconographic analysis included in the image descriptions. The Library would also like to thank the Center for Ignatian Spirituality at Loyola Marymount University for providing the photographs.
