- Main Street was the major financial center in Downtown Los Angeles until it gave way to Spring Street in the early 20th century. The six-story Westminster Hotel was designed by Robert B. Young. The historic building was demolished in the 1960s. Other notable buildings located between Main and Fourth streets include the Van Nuys Hotel (now Barclay Hotel), the Farmers and Merchants Bank, and the San Fernando Building.
