- Ocean Front Walk was developed in the early 1900s along with the rest of the Venice area, then a part of the city of Ocean Park. The Thompson Scenic Railway was a roller coaster built in 1910 by the L. A. Thompson Company. Located at the west end of Ocean Front Walk on the north end of the Venice Pier, it extended out into the ocean on the west end and featured mountain scenery at the east end. The ride was removed in 1919.
