- Mary Emily Foy (1862-1962) was the daughter of two early Los Angeles pioneers, and was the founder of First Century Families, an organization dedicated to preserving the history of Los Angeles' earliest settlers. Foy was also the first woman to serve as the Los Angeles City Librarian, and was actively involved in the fight for women's suffrage.
