- Note
- The Loyola University football team, the Lions, competed as an independent against teams from the Pacific Coast Conference and the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Conference from 1921 to 1951. Tom Lieb coached Loyola football from 1930-1938. Knute Rockne is best known as Notre Dame University's head football coach, where he served from 1918 to 1930, coaching the team through five undefeated seasons, and an all-time winning percentage of .881.
