- Note
- Los Angeles Music Center consists of Mark Taper Forum, Ahmanson Theatre, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and Walt Disney Concert Hall. Among them, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion was the first and largest theater of the Music Center. It was built in 1964 and designed by Welton Becket under a total design policy: the firm designed everything from the structure to its interior design including lighting fixtures, carpeting, typography, restaurant china and flatware to create a unified look. The interior is famous for the 78 crystal light fixtures as well as three chandeliers made with 24,000 pieces of hand-polished crystals imported from Germany. The Pavilion was named after Dorothy Buffum Chandler, wife of the Los Angeles Times' publisher, who led a planning committee for the Music Center and successfully raised private donations of over 20 million dollars to build the Center.
