Series of Seminars
Set For Tuesday AM
The members of the faculty and all interested members
of the student body are invited to a series of seminars which
will take place on Tuesday, May 21, at 11:10 A.M. These
seminars, which have been planned by the Air Force R.O.-
T.C. department, are designed* to acquaint students with the
many different and interesting
NEWLY REMODELED Deauvi I le-Castle Club, scene of this year's Summer Serenade.
Deauville Club To Host
Coming Summer Serenade
The Deauville Castle Club in Santa, Monica will be the scene for this year’s Summer
Serenade, presented by Phi Sigma Kappa. It’s the only answer to finals — and takes place
on the last day of Exam Week, Fri., May 31, from 9 to 1. ,
The Deauville - Castle Club, right on t he beach where Olympic meets the sea, is just
completing a $265,000 remodeling program which promises to make its Grand Ball¬
room one of the largest indoor — - - - -
dance floors built. With a capa¬
city of 2000, there will be plenty
of elbow and dancing room for all.
Another welcome feature will be
an open bar, with reduced prices
on all drinks. A photographer will
also be on hand to take inexpen¬
sive black-and-white or color pic¬
tures.
The Summer Serenade has be¬
come a year end institution and,
according to Jack Soiret, Summer
Serenade chairman,, it was the
best attended of the year. Al¬
though the band is recognized as
one of the best on the East coast,
Jack* prefers to keep their name
a secret until the night of the
dance. He assures us, however,
that they are one of the greatest
sounding jazz-dance groups that
he has witnessed yet.
Jack Soiret, junipr class student
and chairman of the event, did a
terrific job of setting up the fes¬
tivities and has assured us that
the hotel and the mystery band
will add atmosphere that will
make even the lowest grade point
average look outstanding.
Bids are on sale in the book
store and will also be available in
the Lair soon. Last year this
dance was attended by over 400
couples and was held at the mod¬
em Monica Hotel. This same re¬
sponse is expected this year as
well.
For graduating seniors this will
be the last time that they will be
able to socialize with their fel¬
low students.
MYSTERY BAND will play the soft sounds at this year's
Summer Serenade at the Deauville Club.
For the remaining students it
will be a fitting climax to a social
filled semester and a good time
to let off steam.
