Sophia Suarez reminiscence - October 20, 2022

Hi, my name is Sophia Suarez. I am a to all graduating in 2024. My pronouns are they have them and I identify as a bisexual non-binary individual.

So being at Loyola for me was a opening, an eye opening experience. First of all, I was very doubtful about my interest in law school and my ability to succeed.

And being at Loyola really, you know, helped me to realize my potential. And I realized after my first year that law school was the path for me.

And Loyola was a great part in realizing this this career opportunity and this achievement that I am currently involved in. La Raza, the Loyola and and Outlaw La Raza has

been a very interesting experience. First of all, we've been trying to change the name to better reflect our community values and our our our promotion of diversity and inclusion of other communities.

And while we have been very involved in promoting LGBT rights and individuals and putting them forward within the university and the law school and all of this has been a very fulfilling experience getting to work with the community,

being a part of all these amazing individuals that I wouldn't have met if I hadn't gone to law school and truly being part of a community that really cares about others and other individuals and making a change in

the world. So I'm glad to be at Loyola for the reason that I was able to meet all of these amazing people and continue to have connections with them and hopefully

in my career maintain and, you know, promote these connections throughout the years. Or do you have any specific stories of Loyola? Um, not that I can think of.

I think this is a great story. I mean, the alumni panel, the celebration of 50 years of outlaw. And being able to be part of this historical event

with all of these people that have graduated throughout the years and getting to meet new people and being able to celebrate 50 years of being out and proud. That's an amazing opportunity and an amazing experience.

And I would have been able to I wouldn't have been able to experience it had a not gone to law school at this particular time. So that's like a great experience.
