- Note
- The school depicted is mostly likely the Shanghai Jewish Youth Association (SJYA) School funded by Horace Kadoorie. Opened in 1939, the SJYA School, later known as the Kadoorie School, was located at 100 Kinchow Road adjacent to the Kinchow Road refugee camp in Hongkew (Hongkou) District. Hongkew was part of the International Settlement and was the location of the Restricted Area for Stateless Refugees (or "Shanghai Ghetto") where Jewish Holocaust refugees were forced to live from 1941-1945. In 1942, the school was moved to a new building at 627 East Yuhuang Road. Lucy Hartwich was the SJYA School Principal.
