- Description
- John August Swanson used his artwork, Crucifixion III, on posters to fight to end the death penalty in 2012. These posters were seen by Catholic Mobilizing Network, who would then use the images for posters against the Death Penalty across the United States. California Proposition 34 on the November 6, 2012 ballot was defeated. It would have repealed the death penalty in the State of California and imposed a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole for the then 729 inmates sentenced to death.
