Description
In January 2009, while John August Swanson was printing The Last Supper at Aurora Serigraphics Studio in Van Nuys, he was not satisfied with just the central image of the artwork, and wanted to add more details around it. He chose a collection of images from his sketchbook to use as a border surrounding the image. However, Master Printer, James F. Butterfield II said that the sketchbooks were too complex and not bold enough to just print. These sketches were then taken to Publisher's Engraving Company in Arleta, CA, and they were asked to simplify the sketches. The sketches were simplified and scanned into three files. Then they were printed on mylar and arranged and transferred onto a screen, which was used to print them as an initial guide on the serigraph edition of The Last Supper. This is one of the three files.
