- Note
- Los Angeles Polytechnic High School had its beginning in 1897 as a commercial branch of Los Angeles High School. It is the second oldest high school in Los Angeles. In 1905, it moved into a new building at the corner of Washington Boulevard and Flower Street in downtown Los Angeles. In 1935, it was renamed the John H. Francis Polytechnic High School to commemorate its first school principal. In February of 1957, it moved from the downtown location to a new 40-acre campus in the San Fernando Valley.
