- Note
- The Los Angeles Ostrich Farm was built in 1906 by proprietor Francis Earnest, and was located adjacent from Lincoln Park (once known as East Lake Park) at 3609 Mission Road. The farm sold ostrich eggs and feathers, and tours were given daily of the grounds. Ostriches were bred for exhibition and trained to pull visitors in carts or to be ridden astride. The farm also put on ostrich races for spectators."Real Photo" postcards were a popular purchase at the farm--visitors could have their picture taken with the ostriches and the photographs were printed on paper with pre-printed postcard backs. The Ostrich Farm closed sometime after 1972.
