Note
Mazu beliefs and customs were inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2009. The figure is protected by a plexiglass case which has been removed for photography. The accompanying heavy costume and head piece are not pictured separately.
