- Note
- The City of Glendale, situated at the eastern end of the San Fernando Valley and bisected by the Verdugo Mountains, is considered a suburb of the Greater Los Angeles Area. Originally, Glendale was part of one of California's better known ranchos, Rancho San Rafael, founded by Don Jose Maria Verdugo who settled the area in 1784. In 1871 the land was partitioned, the town of Glendale subsequently established in 1886, and incorporated in 1906.
