- William Moore worked as a surveyor for the Los Angeles City and County as early as the 1850s. In the late 1860s and 1870s, Moore started working for the Los Angeles Canal and Reservoir Company to establish a system of canals to bring water from the Los Angeles River into Bunker Hill.
