- Austrian immigrant and well-known Los Angeles surveyor George Hansen served as the Los Angeles City Surveyor for many terms during the 1850s and 1860s, and as the Los Angeles County Surveyor from 1864 to 1869. He assisted Henry Hancock in surveying the Los Angeles City. Also, Hansen was a leader in the development of Anaheim, California.
