- Note
- Although the football team had roots in St. Vincent's College since 1898, the Loyola University football team, the Lions, competed as an independent against teams from the Pacific Coast Conference and the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Conference from 1921 to 1951. The team's practice field was located near Loyola Blvd and 80th Street. A combination of economics, the Korean war and a rising reaction against ''big-time college football'' among university presidents led the school to drop football following the 1951 season.
