- Big Pine Property Owners Association (BPPOA) was established to represent the property interests of Big Pine residents, and the organization held its first meeting on December 8, 1924. A. G. Barmore, editor and owner of the Big Pine Citizen, served as president. J. D. Black was the association secretary. After a reparations bill of California was passed in April 1925, the BPPOA formed the Big Pine Reparations Association (BPRA) on July 29, 1925 to establish reparations claims against the City of Los Angeles during the Owens Valley water controversy.
