- Note
- John J. McBride was born Oct. 1845 in New York. In 1889 and 1890, he obtained the federal land patent for the land on which the Blind Spring Ranch was located in Mono County, between Benton and Adobe Meadows. He was a stock raiser according to the 1900 federal census. It is he for whom McBride Flat and McBride Springs, in Mineral County, Nevada are named. McBride appears on the 1900 census for Mono County, though his appearance in some items in the Bridgeport Chronicle-Union (Bridgeport, CA), indicate he was still living in the county as late as 1915. Adobe Meadows is in Mono County, east of Mono Lake, and River Spring Ranch is near the River Spring Lakes.
