- Description
- A portable shrine containing a wooden sculpture of Jizō Bosatsu (bodhisattva Jizō) standing and wearing robes of gold and red. In the left hand, Jizō holds a wish-fulfilling jewel. The statue is damaged and the right hand is missing. The case is cylindrical and has two double-hinged doors. The exterior is black lacquered and the interior is gilded.

- Note
- The bodhisattva Jizō, the most merciful, is considered a deity of the common people imbued with the power to fulfill all wordly prayers and is the savior of those suffering in hell. Statues of Jizō are often found in temples, private garden shrines, intersections in towns, and roadsides near remote villages to protect travelers even into modern-day Japan.
