- Reverend Theodore Marshall, S.J., had served as Library Director and contributed to the building of Special Collections at Loyola Marymount University. Dr. Daniel T. Mitchell, born in 1923, graduated from Loyola University in 1936. He served in WWII and went on to earn his Ph.D. at the University of Southern California as an Oliver Goldsmith scholar. Mitchell was an Associate Professor in English and Communication Arts at Loyola University from 1950 until his death in 1969. Dr. Mitchell served as the Chair of the Loyola Committee on Student Publications in 1968, and he helped in the transitional period during the merger of Loyola University and Marymount College when the campus newspaper, The Loyolan, became a joint effort of the students of both schools. Dr. Mitchell also contributed to the Goldsmith Collection at Loyola Marymount University Library.
