- Description
- A tin cross adorned with hand-painted symbols representative of road crosses. These symbols include the face of Christ, the sun, the moon, the INRI sign topped by a rooster, a ladder, a spear, and a pole with a vinegar sponge. Here, the face of Christ is depicted by a second sun adorned with a hand-drawn smiling face, representing his role as the Son of God. Above Christ's head arcs a rainbow of peace with the Peruvian flag raised from each end of the rainbow. Heralding angels climb both the ladder and spear on either side of the transept of the cross. Near the bottom, a banner reads "1987," possibly the year the pilgrimage commemorated by this road cross occurred.
