- Note
- The new Venice Amusement Pier, built after the fire of 1920, was officially opened to the public on Independence Day, 1921." The Venice Pier offered a plethora of rides, games, and other activities, and included roller coasters, a 99-foot Dragon Slide, a new Ship Cafe, Noah's Ark ride, a merry-go-round, a racing derby, and many other activities. The new Venice Dance Hall was designed by architect Lawrence Furniss. Its dance floor could accommodate 800 couples, and there were loges for spectators. "The Bobs" was a twister style roller coaster designed by Frederick Church and Harry Traver. In 1946 the city council decided to tear down the Venice pier. The pier was slowly demolished, and what was not demolished by 1946 was destroyed by a fire in 1947.
