- Note
- The old red sandstone Courthouse was damaged in the 1933 earthquake and demolished in 1936. Thereafter, the Superior Court operated out of temporary quarters until 1959. It is now in the Stanley Mosk Los Angeles County Courthouse on First between Hill and Grand. Court. The 1959 opening allowed court operations and courtrooms to finally be located in one building rather than scattered throughout the downtown area. The County Courthouse includes around 70 civil courtrooms, the Family Law and Probate Courts, Administrative offices, and the Civil Division of the Sheriff's Office. In the location of the old Courthouse is the Criminal Courts building.
