- A thankgka (banner) depicting the figure of Yama, the Lord of Death, devouring the bhavacakra (Wheel of Life). This would have been used as a teaching aid outside of Tibetan Buddhist temples and monasteries for Buddhist teachings about the cycle of existence. The main panel of the thangka is made of cotton with silk edging.

- Note
- Thangka banners were hung in monasteries, family altars, and used in ceremonial processions. Their images of deities and various religious scenes were a means to teach others about the life and ways of the Buddha. Featured in El Camino College’s Anthropology Museum 2009 exhibit “Tibet: A People's Dream, Past, Present, and Future.” Also featured in the Loyola Marymount University gallery show “The Color of God” in October 2003; label reading, “The Wheel of Existence. THANGKA hand painted aid to meditation. This example portrays the journey from the origin of life, to death, and finally enlightenment. Buddhist. Nepal. Ca: mid to late 20th century."
