- Note
- The original Beverly Hills Hotel in the Mediterranean Revival style was designed by Elmer Grey. It was built for $50,000 on Sunset Boulevard in 1912 before Beverly Hills was officially founded as a city. In the mid-1940s, an extensive remodeling was done by Schultze of New York and Charles O. Matcham of Los Angeles, adding the east wing to the main building. The hotel was a popular venue for Hollywood celebrities, including John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe, and Howard Hughes.
