Audio guided tour of Prodigal Son

In this prodigal son, this particular one of 1984 was uh a very large one. And, and based on drawings that I did in 19 83 I made a painting and then I began the ser in uh August of 84. It's a paragraph of silk screen print

and it's quite elaborate. I really emphasized many details. Uh But instead of having one big painting, I decided to go into five uh major uh panels and then uh on the on the sides of, of the artwork, the main artwork like a border. I have um

scenes of the, the son leaving and the father giving him money and the mother making a beautiful shirt. And then when the family are saying goodbye and then I the sun goes to the beautiful city on the other 42 panels. On the right side, you can

see the prodigal son eating, well, drinking, well, and dancing and hearing music. He's playing cards and losing his money. And the fourth panel underneath you see him there with the uh pigs and he's very despondent and poor and the birds are on the trees looking at

him and making, making comments about that. He how he lost his money and what a fool he was no above the larger scene in the middle. When he returns home, I have the story of him leaving the pig pen and then his long journey and I

have little scenes that I've developed and I, I thought of, you know, what would it be like for him to try to return home after that long? It was such a long distance that he had gone, trying to find his way and, and, and how much

he regretted having left. And then you see one panel with his father embracing him and then another panel and, and instead of a large uh dinner with a lamb, I, I that I couldn't fit a lamb in. So I put a chicken so they're having a

chicken dinner. But the main, the, the large scene is when the father sees him from a distance, the prodigal son is on the road there to the house and the father comes running and all the people around are watching all the animals in the, it's a

busy farm with many things going on.
