- An informal letter from Edward V. Dockweiler to his brother Henry I. Dockweiler (called "Enrique" in this letter), dated September 20, 1938. In it, Edward suggests "taking a poll," presumably with regard to their brother John F. Dockweiler's campaign to become the Governor of California. He then goes on to discuss family matters, including his child's health and the possibility of attending a football match in Los Angeles soon. The letter is signed, "Barnacle Bill." Attribution of names based on letter from Henry Isidore Dockweiler to Edward Vincent Dockweiler in reply to this one, written on September 23, 1938.

- Note
- The Dockweiler family has been closely intertwined with Los Angeles religious, political, and civic life, areas in which his offspring would also distinguish themselves. Henry Isidore Dockweiler (d. 1970) served in the U.S. diplomatic corps in Japan, Spain, and China. Edward Vincent Dockweiler (d. 1961) retired from the U.S. Navy as a rear admiral and earned the Bronze Star for his heroism in Japanese POW camps during World War II. John Francis Dockweiler (d. 1943) followed in his father's political footsteps, serving as a Democratic U.S. Congressman (1933-1939), District Attorney of Los Angeles County (1940-1943), and running unsuccessfully for governor of California in the 1938 Democratic primary. These brothers were three of thirteen children born to Isidore Dockweiler (1867-1947) and Gertrude Reeve Dockweiler (1871-1937), eleven of whom survived infancy.
