- Note
- Little Tokyo, known as Little Tokyo Historic District, is the cultural center for Japanese Americans in Southern California. It is one of three official Japantowns in the United States including the other two in San Francisco and San Jose. Founded around the beginning of the 20th century, the area is also called J-Town or Sh?-t?ky?. It was declared a National Historic Landmark District in 1995. Nisei Week ( Nisei means 2nd generation in Japanese) is an annual festival celebrating Japanese American culture and history in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. It currently targeted for people of all backgrounds to celebrate Japanese heritage and culture. Traditional ondo (dance in Japanese) dances are conducted in a closing celebration of Nisei Week's events where public, Nisei Week Queen and Court, families, and community groups are encouraged to join for the dances.
