- Note
- James Winchester Robinson opened his first store named "The Boston Dry Goods Store" at Spring and Temple Streets in the late 1800's. In 1914, he moved to a new location at 7th street and opened an upscale department store under the new name, " J. W. Robinson Co." In the 1910s, Seventh Street was becoming a dynamic commercial district transforming from agricultural land since the arrival of the Southern Pacific Railroad brought population explosion as well as commercial center's growth. The building shown here was designed by Noonan and Richards and remodeled by Edward L. Mayberry in 1934.
