- Note
- Songwriter Earl Carroll opened his Theatre-Restaurant in December of 1938 at 6230 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. The exterior featured a giant neon portrait of actress Beryl Wallace, Carroll's longtime companion, and a "Wall of Fame" on the outside wall where actors and actresses had inscribed their names. The theater boasted two revolving stages, three floating stages, and disappearing platforms, and could accommodate up to one thousand people. The theater was sold after Carroll and Wallace died in a plane crash in 1948, and the site was used for a succession of theaters and night clubs including the Hullabaloo club, the Aquarius Theatre, and in 2004, the Nickelodeon Theater.
