- Broadway was the major corridor for shopping and entertainment in the Downtown Los Angeles from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century. The Pantages Theatre was designed by Benjamin Marcus Priteca, who had designed more than 100 theaters. Named after its owner Alexander Pantages, the theater opened at the corner of Hill and Seventh streets in 1920, and it was sold to the Warner Bros in 1929.
