- Note
- The City of Burbank is located in the East San Fernando Valley, and was named for David Burbank, a dentist and entrepreneur from New Hampshire who purchased the land in 1867. In 1886, Burbank sold much of his property to a group of prospectors who laid out a central business district around the intersection of Olive Ave. and San Fernando Blvd., and began selling tracts. Growing steadily, the city voted to incorporate in 1911. Over the years, the city's major industries have been aviation and entertainment. Burbank High School was built in 1908.
