Elizabeth Pinedes reminiscence - September 18, 2022

good, good. Okay. I was involved in community and campus activism in two ways. I was a um an elementary school tutor for a program that was very local and uh it was I think probably my introduction into really being passionate about teaching and working with young

people and I was also involved in a latin X group called Westra alma Latina and it was just a group of six really um amazing, beautiful, brilliant young women that just kind of supported me a lot and and um even even though I identified predominantly as

african american, I was able to kind of touch base with more of my salvadoran roots and just feel the culture of this particular group as we were being involved. And my most memorable experience at LMU was uh was seeing city High performed at the sunset, the

concert at sunset. It was uh it was my first concert going experience and it was here and it was basically free, but it just kind of, it was, it was, it was a lot of fun and it was high energy and it was, it was an

artist of color that was just on stage just being amazing and and bringing good vibes to the campus and and that was a really, really fun at night and I hope that with all of the work that the students do here, they continue to have opportunities

to just enjoy and appreciate life because I think that um I think if anything the last few years has taught us that these times are valuable and they mean something and just maximize every every chance that you get because nothing is promised. So thank you for
