- Note
- Paul de Longpre (1855-1911) was a famous painter from Lyon, France, known for his flower paintings. De Longpre moved to Los Angeles around 1898. In the early 1900s, de Longpre purchased a plot of land located on the corner of Cahuenga Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard, where he built a lavish mansion in a Moorish style with a three acre garden surrounding the home. De Longpre's home quickly became one of Hollywood's first tourist attractions and could be seen on the Pacific Electric Railway's Balloon Route Excursion. The building was torn down a few years after his death in 1911.
