- Note
- Lincoln Park, located at the east corner of Mission Road and Valley Boulevard, is one of Los Angeles' oldest public parks. Although the first date of the park is usually given as 1874, it was officially dedicated in 1883. Lincoln Park was originally known as East Los Angeles Park and later as East Lake Park. The park only became known as Lincoln Park after Lincoln High School was built in 1914. By the early twentieth century, Lincoln Park was a 45-acre park that contained picturesque gardens, a man-made lake covering around 8 acres, a boathouse, beautiful walkways, and a carousel (which burned down in 1976)" The park also included several conservatories which housed exotic plants and hosted many horticultural exhibitions. The original conservatories were removed by the late 1950s, when the city added a swimming pool, picnic pavilion, and bathhouse at the former site of the conservatories.
