Loyola University and Marymount College Affiliation and Merger

The collection of the Loyola University and Marymount College Affiliation and Merger Records documents the affiliation and eventual merger of Marymount College and Loyola University. This digital collection was launched in 2023, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the merger on July 1, 1973. This collection includes correspondence from Loyola University presidents Reverend Charles S. Casassa, S.J. and Reverend Donald P. Merrifield, S.J., and Marymount College president Sister M. Raymunde McKay, R.S.H.M., with university associates. Promotional brochures, reports, and planning documents are also included in the collection. This collection ranges from 1965, when discussions regarding the affiliation between Loyola University and Marymount College began, to the merger of the two schools in 1973.

This digital collection was partially funded by a gift from the Bill Hannon Foundation to digitize and provide access to materials from the archival collections of the William H. Hannon Library.
