Description	A daytime view looking down Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. The Wilshire Christian Church dominates the foreground, with the radio towers and headquarters building for the KFAC Auburn-Cord radio station immediately behind it. The Gaylord Apartment building, Immanuel Presbyterian Church, and Bullock's Wilshire are visible in the distance.
Historical Background	Wilshire Boulevard is a major thoroughfare extending from Downtown Los Angeles to the Pacific Ocean. It passes through MacArthur Park (formerly named Westlake Park) and several major shopping areas including Beverly Hills, the "Miracle Mile", and Westwood, and alongside Lafayette Park (formerly named Sunset Park)" The Wilshire Boulevard Christian Church, located at the corner of Wilshire and Normandie, was built during 1922-1923, making it the first church on Wilshire Boulevard. Broadcasting from next door, at the Auburn Cord dealership at the corner of Wilshire and Mariposa was the radio station KFAC (for Fuller, Auburn, and Cord)" In 1931, luxury automobile dealer E.L. Cord purchased the radio station KTBI from the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, changing the call letters to KFAC (for Fuller, Auburn, and Cord)" Initially, KFAC broadcast a variety of programming, but by the mid-1940s had become to Los Angeles' first completely classical radio station. In the late 1980s, the station's popularity declined, and the station was sold, becoming an R&B station.
