|Transcription||BROWNSON HOUSE NEWS VOL III LOS ANGELES, CALIF MAY 20 1939 NO.2 MAY DAY May Day was quite a festival day at Brown-son House. The Bright Star Club entertained the St. Anthony's Club on that day with a pro-gram and crowning of the May Queen. Aurora Guzman port-rayed the Queen. Her attendants were Petra Moreno, Rosie Rivera [N?]ellie Mesa, and Eloise Garcia. Jennie Luna was the honored one to place the Crown on the Queen's head. The St. Anthony's Club members represen-ted children from far distant lands to pay homage to the Queen of the May. They were the guests of the Queen on that day and in turn were entertained by the members of the Bright Star Club, who repres-ented the Queen's Courts. CONGRATULATIONS The Intersenior girls Club announce a change in their officers.Those [sic] newly elected are:Pres. [sic] Mary Lopez; Vice-Pres. Carmen Contreras; Sec. Henrietta Manriquez; Treas; Sara Saldivar; Sgt. at Arms Connie Morano. HERE AM I [Image of a cow sitting back on her haunches with 3 flowers and a butterfly] WHERE IS SPRING? MOTHERS DAY May 14th is set aside as the one special day of this year on which we should honor our Mothers. Many of the Club Members of Brownson House are making beautiful and useful gifts to give to their Mothers on her day. We all wish that each and every one of our Mothers will be happy on that special day. MOTHERS PARTY The Senior Girls ent-ertained their Mothers on Monday evening April 24th. Various games were played. Refreshments consisted of coffee and cookies. A good time was had by every mother. CABARET SUPPER The Spring Formal Ca-baret Supper is now definately [sic] set for Thursday evening, May 25th. All four Senior Clubs are anxiously looking forward to this gala event as being the most outstanding social activity of the year. Each Club has its in-dividual work to do, and are cooperating enthusiastically to make it a success. Decorations will consist of the May spiral motif in pink, white, and green. A floor show is already being planned with leading singing and dancing numbers by the outstanding talent of Brownson House. SENIOR OFFICERS Installation of Sen-ior officers was held on Friday March 31. The new officers installed were Pres. Jo[e?] Barrios; Vice-Pres. Julian Coro-nado; Sec. Treasurer Isidor[e?] Serrato; Sgt. at Arms Pete Robles. The Senior Boys Club congratulated the new officers and offered their complete coopera-tion.|
