Description	The crown jewel of the Sierra Nevada, Mt. Whitney looms over the Owens Valley as the highest point in the contiguous United States at 14496 feet. The peak is only seventy-six miles from the lowest point in the contiguous United States, in Death Valley. As this photographic postcard demonstrates the peak and its surrounding area have always been a popular tourist attraction. Title supplied by cataloger.
