Historical Background |
The largest glacier in the Sierra Nevada, Palisade Glacier is located above the Owens Valley, and is the southernmost glacier in the United States. The photographer, Harry W. Mendenall, was the owner of the Camera Art Shop in Big Pine, California and a resident of Big Pine from at least 1910 until his death in 1952. |
