Description	A view looking northeast toward the Glendale-Hyperion Viaduct and Victory Memorial Bridge where it meets a street railway bridge known as the Pacific Electric Bridge. Visible on the left is a portion of the Los Angeles River, with the Verdugo Hills in the distance.
Historical Background	The 1,152 foot-long Glendale-Hyperion Viaduct, completed in June, 1927, was constructed as a means of relieving congestion in a heavily-trafficked area. Popularly known as the Hyperion Bridge, it connected the newly-opened Hyperion Avenue in the Griffith Park area of the Hollywood community with Glendale Boulevard in the Atwater area of the Northeast Los Angeles community, and spanned the Los Angeles River. The viaduct was also known as the "Victory Memorial Bridge" in honor of the men who served in World War I.
