Verdugo
Mountains

Originally

Glendale
was
part
of
one
of
California's
better
known
ranchos

Rancho
San
Rafael
,
founded
by
Don
Jose
Maria
Verdugo
who
settled
the
area
in
1784
. In
1871
the
land
was
partitioned

town
of
Glendale
subsequently
established
in
1886
, and
incorporated
in
1906
.
