main
scenery
of the
ride
.
Historical Background
Ocean
Front
Walk
was
developed
in the
early
1900s
along
with the
rest
of the
Venice
area
, then a
part
of the
city
of
Ocean
Park
. The
Thompson
Scenic
Railway
was a
roller
coaster
built
in
1910
by the
L
. A.
Thompson
Company
.
Located
at the
west
end
of
Ocean
Front
Walk
on the
north
end
of the
Venice
Pier
,
it
extended
out
into the
ocean
on the
west
end
and
featured
mountain
scenery
at the
east
end
. The
ride
was
removed
in
1919
.
