Rev. John J. Cantwell
San Francisco,
My dear Father Cantwell,
We have learned that you are chosen to be our Bishop. we want to tell you how very welcome you will be, and to express an earnest hope that we may be able, in our small way, to co-operate with you in your great work as Bishop of Monterey and Los Angeles.
We feel almost presumptuous to say this, but we take courage when we remember that even the widow's mite was of value in the sight of God.
We hope that the contribution of our sincere effort may have some value in your eyes. It will be given whole heartedly.
With best wishes, believe me,
Cordially yours,
Mary J. workman [Pres]
