Daugherty, Charlie Watson, and Charlie Casassa; kneeling in the second row are Don Lynch, Phil Smith, William Maher, and Jack Looney; sitting in the front row are Harry Smith, Jimmy Tyrell, Captain Laurence "Red" O'Connor, Joe McCormick, and Rolph McDonald. They are wearing team jerseys.
Historical Background	Saint Ignatius Academy was founded in 1855 and became St. Ignatius College in 1859. The college adopted green and gold as their colors in 1927, the same year the basketball team were city champions. Their mascot was originally known as the "Grey Fog" and became the San Francisco Dons in 1932. Charlie Casassa, pictured in the back row, later joined the Jesuit order and became the tenth President of Loyola University. He was not only a great campus builder but also was the principal mover behind the affiliation and eventual merger with Marymount College. Fr. Casassa, S.J. served the university for over forty years.
