Description	Former Loyola University student William (aka Bill) Cordero explains to President Charles Casassa about the oxygen system of high altitude flying gear as the President prepares for a fly on a F-101 Voodoo Interceptor at Oxnard Air Force Base.
Historical Background	LMU established an AFROTC detachment in 1948, establishing a squadron from a core of returning veterans into the heart of the aerospace industry. The AFROTC had the full support of University President Charles Casassa, S.J., seen here in flight suit. With the Korean War looming, he required all underclassmen to join AFROTC, effectively steering his students out of the Selective Service draft. William Edward Cordero graduated from Loyola University of Los Angeles in 1958. He was a Vietnam veteran killed in 1965. Reverend Charles S. Casassa, S.J., was the tenth President of Loyola University of Los Angeles from 1949 to 1969.
